Just registered online to download the community edition.
Got the email with license. Installed. Come to enter license and once all characters entered the other fields gray out.... Click register, comes up with no valid registration.
Not a good start...
I do have 10.2 installed if that means anything...
Any help advice appreciated.
I clicked the web registration link. Received the email with the registration .txt file. Followed the instructions and clicked import to select the file. Success there but then when clicking register and entering the serial number again, click register and it fails again.
So I deleted the 10.3.3 licenses. (10.2 Tokyo is still there)
Tried again. No luck.
Not happy. Maybe pebkac but why so difficult???
I got past the licensing, but, TBF, Embarcadero licensing is quite ***. It often fails, is confusing and poorly laid out.
I too have issues. After a download of say .5Gb I get:
'Cannot load data from server. Problem extracting compressed file. Download file seems to be corrupt'.
This happened time and time again, waste of a complete day.
Lazarus NOT an option, been there done that. I have too much code with specific libraries and classes and have build a number of DLLs which don't seem to do overly well on Lazarus and the functionality I wanted through the libraries not well served. Lots of rewrite, not straight convert from Delphi. (For examp TMS VCL Cloud studio dated July 2020, LCL Cloud studio dated September 2016 - only 4 years out of date) IMHO. It is a great free environment, but I could not go through the heartache of attempting to convert my stuff again.
So, anyone have any ideas?
For example, is there somewhere I can download all of the installation files to my system THEN do the install. The Embacadero online install leaves a lot to be desired and is subject, often, to the vagaries of the internet?
EDIT: OK, just happened again. The definition of insanity doing something the same and expecting a different result.
So is there somewhere I can download the CE Installation files?
Uninstalled and deleted the license 10.3 using 10.2 license manager.
Noticed that if I start the license manager again the 10,3 license is still there,... wtf???
Anyway, reinstalled, it saw the "deleted" license and installed.
Now when run, presented with the large list of platforms. Unselected all except the Delphi community edition. Then presented with the optional components. It failed on Interbase. Wouldn't download it. So start again, unselect all those platforms I dont want, didn't select the intebase, just help and it tries to download interbase again. Keeps failing. Click cancel. Get the Rad Studio IDE so I think good to go,
Not so quick. Wont open any of my 10.2 projects. Missing Delphi.Personality.
I think the Idera personality has hair all over it. How many hoops does one have to jump through to install and run the once you beaut Delphi IDE???
This is a really sad and bad indictment on what was such a great product.
Forgot to mention. The absence of any Embarcadero / Idera help in these forums is also pretty lame.
Who doesn't support their own products??? Companies that wont be around too much longer...
Mine failed consistently on the common services. Downloads and says corrupt. Every time. Embarcadero told me to bugger off even though only they can fix the file corruption.
you get the ide with a minimal install. It doesn’t mean any product is installed just the basic ide framework.
yes, it is a complete cluster.
just a maybe on the corruption
did you try a different isp?
there is the odd case where one server doesn't play ball with another
When i select tools / mange platforms, it is a lottery what is preselected. Nonetheless, whether i leave all the preselected or just win community32bit, it fails on download interbase redist, even though interbase is not selected in the options. There is an operation error message, invalid serial number. Just tried with all defaults now fails on VC redist 64, internal check error. Nothing else, nothing descriptive. 64 bit C++ wasn't even selected...
20 years ago there were some pretty shocking software installs around. With InnoSetup as a good example, most lifted their game.
Rather sad that a company selling software development tools can't do better. All too complicated and left hand not knowing what right is doing...
I just want a usable Delphi...
