Following the beta testing period and some blog post pre-announcing some of the key features (see also my blog), yesterday Embarcadero officially released RAD Studio 10.4 Sydney, which includes Delphi 10.4.
There are many new features in the product. For Delphi developers the key are:
There is way more in the product, this is just my personal take of the top 3 areas we worked on. Extensive bug fixing is another key element of 10.4, with one of the highest number of public reported bug fixed in a release. And the return of a very nice classic Delphi Greek helmet logo!

(DX) Data Snap client for Android (32/64) made in 10.3.3 worked seamlessly, now with 10.4 (with IDE patch 1) I get "unable to load midas due to missing code page conversion library" error at run time. same client compiled for Windows (32/64) functions properly
Remember when every man and his dog was using Turbo Pascal and Turbo C++, because they represented perhaps the lowest barrier of entry to almost anything on the market. They were affordable, easy to use, and extremely functional. Why can't we have entry level versions of Delphi and C++ Builder, priced such that students, hobbiests and part time developers can avail of the products? It seems Idera is reluctant to release 10.4 as a free Community Edition - and I can totally understand the reasons behind that. But why not increase their bottom line by releasing fully functional "Starter" type editions for $99 or even $199? Windows only, 32 bit and 64 bit with VCL support would be fine. All IDE/language functionality should be available (don't gimp the IDE). If you want to complete with free tools like Visual Studio, people need current releases and to feel like there is some future in the tools they're adopting. The continual change of tack by Embarcader/Idera (one day we have a Starter Edition, then it's the Community Edition, tomorrow maybe nothing.. who knows?!?) doesn't give people much confidence. Enterprise and big business will always be able to afford the Enterprise/Architect versions at whatever price, but even Professional in Australia is AU$2,235 for the first year. When I don't use 95% of the product, I'm not willing to pay 100% of the price being asked. Go back to the old days with a "Turbo" version that anyone can afford, and gradually you're going to build confidence in the developer base and increased market share.
Setting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Embarcadero\BDS\21.0\Theme\FirstUse parameter to 1 helped me to recover

on test occurred too, when dont crash"ed"
The IDE also crash when switch to "classic undocked" desktopdid you test this too?
Big Al have you tried any of the test spoken of above? Both myself and Emailx45 experienced the same issues.
Specifically trying to edit a component property in visual bindings? It will crash the IDE.
I use also the Konopka Controls. And I have 10.3.3 and 10.4 installed parallel. Except that the controls are not available for 10.4 now it works without any problem. But I hope the Signature Konopka VCL Controls are soon available for 10.4. It's the last thing I need to move my main project to 10.4....
more about RAD 10.4 against 10.3.3
I installed Delphi Sydney 10.4 on my desktop computer running Windows 10 Pro 64-bitsand all the components I am using on the projects I am developing on Delphi Rio 10.3.3.I did not uninstall Delphi Rio 10.3.3 before the installation of Delphi 10.4 Sydney. Then I opened the project (I am developing on Delphi Rio 10.3.3) on Delphi 10.4 Sydney.Note: I use on the project the Signature Konopka VCL Controls 6.2.3, Ehlib VCL and other VCL controls from Delphi.1) Delphi 10.4 Sydney changed the colors of the forms and the buttons of the project to clBtnFace andthe color of the font of the captions of the labels and the caption of the buttons from clNavy to clBlack.2) I tried to change the colors of these components but it was impossible. You can change the value of the Color property of the component on the Object Inspectorbut the color of the component does not change.3) On Delphi 10.4 Sydney when I open the LiveBindings panel and click on the three dots of any component rectangleDelphi 10.4 Sidney closes without any warning.4) I closed Delphi 10.4 Sydney.5) When I opened Delphi Rio 10.3.3, a message was shown informing that theSignature Konopka VCL Controls and the EhLib VCL controls could not be loaded.6) I installed these components again on Delphi Rio 10.3.3. Then I closed Delphi Rio 10.3.3.When I opened Delphi Rio 10.3.3 again the same message was shown informing that theSignature Konopka VCl Controls and the EhLib VCL components could not be loaded.7) I removed Delphi 10.4 Sydney from my desktop computer.8) I installed the Signature Konopka VCL Controls and the EhLib VCL Components on Delphi Rio 10.3.3and these components was loaded on Delphi Rio 10.3.3 without problem.I have never seen such kind of errors on the prior Delphi versions.
Yes, alas that does not work either
correct! 2 problems or bugs is raised!
did you try change the background color of TForms?
There are two separate issues.
One is if you place a TMemo on a VCL form, then bring up the String List Property editor and select "code editor", you may get an access violation coredide270.bpl, so you cannot use the property editor from VB pane..
The other is for many of the VCL components, put a component down on the form select bind visually, then click on the ellipses to try to edit the properties, the IDE crashes completely and shuts down? I've tried this same thing several times and it crashes each time.
my system is updated and it's working good in RAD 10.3.3
MSWindows 10 Enterprise 1909 / 2004 (now), 8GB Ram, nVidia 2GB, drivers updated Win/nVidia
Games like Ubisoft run ok - then, RAD 10.4 should too! :)
