I am keen to know if PowerShell 5.0 and PowerShell Core can co-exist on the same machine?
I am trying to connect PowerShell to a Unix box and I guess this can be done using PowerShell Core. Meanwhile I also would like to work on PowerShell 5.0 as part of development activities.
Request your help.
PSCore and PSWin are two different things.
You cannot uninstall the built-in version of PS on Windows (Win 8 and higher). So, you cannot physically replace the default version with PSCore.
So, yes, this is by design and is done by many since PSCore release and evangelized that way by the PS dev team.
