I am moving the web piece of SQLdm Mobile & Newsfeed Service. When trying to reinstall on the new web server, I am getting an error stating that the newsfeed service was already in use and connected to the previous web server. The existing News Service will need to be uninstalled before continuing with a new installation.
At this point, I have uninstalled both the web piece from the web server AND the service that was installed on the SQLdm machine. I have tried reinstalling multiple times but I can't figure out where or how the installation thinks it is still connected with another installation.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as Idera's level I support seems to take forever since it evidently has been shipped to India. I end up with more and more tickets that have to get escalated.
I would like to add that on the SQLdm server, I have tried to install only the Mobile & Newsfeed components and I get a similar error saying "The News Service repository 'IderaNewsRepository' already hosted on the specified server is in use by another News Service installation. The existing News Service will need to be uninstalled before continuing with a new installation". SOMEWHERE it still thinks that I have an installation that is tied to my original web server.
It's been a long time since I've worked with SQLdm Mobile, let alone perform a migration of it.
Have you tried installing the software while creating a new repository? Once the repository is created, I'm thinking that you should be able to restore the original copy of your repository over it. If that works, then you should be able to use the IDERA Newsfeed Platform to make sure things are set properly.
You'll need to do two things with the Platform Manager, (1) save the repository database settings and (2) save the authentication provider setting. With the repository settings, I'm worried that you might encounter the same error message you noted. I'm not entirely sure though.
With the authentication provider setting, you'll need to drop a record from the NotificationProviders table in the SQLdm Repository database (where SerializedType is PulseNotificationProviderInfo). Once the record is dropped, then try to save the settings on the Authentication Provider screen.
I hope that helps.
Thanks Tep. I will give it a shot because I have NOT tried to create a new repository.
