KB: Upon application startup, why do I get a long Java error message?

When starting the application displays a long error message with the text “IderaRapidDatabaseExtractor: Java was started but returned exit code=13 [...] [OK]”:

This is because the application is trying to call Java but the correct edition of Java is not installed. That is, the 64-bit application is trying to call 64-bit Java, or the 32-bit application is trying to call 32-bit Java. A likely cause is that the correct edition of Java was uninstalled after the application was installed. For example, after installing 64-bit Java and the 64-bit application, 64-bit Java was uninstalled; 32-bit Java may or may not (still) be installed.
