Installation failed: Provider cannot be found error in install log

Receiving the following message when trying to install:

IDERA SQLdm Installation was unsuccessfull.

The %PROGRAMFILES%\Idera\SQLdm x64 Installation Kit\InstallSQLDM.log file has the following:

1: Attempting to establish the SQL connection... Server: XXXXXX\YYYYYYY, Database:

where XXXXXX\YYYYYYY is redacted.

Does anyone know how I can find out what the actual issue is?

  • Based on the error message, I think it's looking for a native client. I suspect it's looking for a specific version of the native client, SQL Server 2012 Native Client QFE to be specific. You should be able to easily download it, install it, then try the SQLDM installer again.
