ER/Studio 18.2 General Availability

We are pleased to announce the general availability (GA) of IDERA ER/Studio 18.2

ER/Studio 18.2 contains support for the Amazon Redshift database in both Data Architect and Team Server. Customers using this cloud data warehouse platform will benefit significantly from this release. 

ER/Studio Data Architect 18.2

Improvements to Data Architect were made in the following areas:

  • New parser
    • We have rebuilt the parser for database forward and reverse engineering. This new common component handles grammars associated with the creation and understanding of databases. The benefit is that we can release support for new and updated database versions more quickly and effectively.
  • Amazon Redshift Support 
  • Reverse-engineering 
    • via ODBC (using the locally installed Redshift ODBC driver supplied by the user)
    • from a SQL file
  • Forward-engineering
    • via ODBC (using the locally installed Redshift ODBC driver supplied by the user)
    • to a SQL file
  • Creating Alter SQL to apply changes to a database based on compare/merge results
  • All other standard Data Architect features (datatype mappings, capacity planning, generate physical model, compare/merge, submodel sync, Repo operations, etc)
  • Supported Redshift features:
    • Tables and Views, including columns, constraints, etc
    • Distribution, Sort and Encode
  • MITI Bridge Support
  • Additional bridges added to stand-alone ER/Studio Data Architect 
    • OMG UML 1.x XMI 1.x
    • OMG UML 2.x XMI 2.x
    • Borland Together (via UML 2.x XMI)
    • CA Component Modeler 4.x (via UML 1.x XMI)
    • Microsoft Office Visio UML Class Diagram (via UML 1.x XMI)
    • NoMagic MagicDraw (via UML 2.x XMI)
    • Oracle Data Modeler (ODM) 4.x
  • 2 new import bridges for ER/Studio Enterprise Team Edition
    • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Aurora Database (via JDBC)
    • W3C XML Schema Definition (XSD) 1.0 Reverse Engineering

Team Server/Repository 18.2

Improvements to Team Server were made in the following areas:

  • Support for Amazon Redshift
  • Bug fixes 

There were no changes to ER/Studio Business Architect and Software Architect, both of which retain the 18.0 version number.
