I am new user of Idera Data Architect tool.
I have found a way to reverse engineer the single SQL Server 2016 database into data model easily. I am unable to select multiple databases in the reverse engineering option available in the tool. In the solution i am working on, entities and data is split onto multiple databases for performance/management reasons.
My question is, is there a way where i can reverse engineer multiple databases and have a single main model?
To include multiple modeled databases into one model, simply reverse engineer each database into their own model file.
When finished, you can then cut and paste the objects from each model file into one model file. I suggest using the Logical model for this.
Once finished, you can run the Compare and Merge utility
It might be prudent to create submodels for the objects sourced from each database.
Unless you would like to represent each database with their own Physical model in which case you can do that as well:
I will definitely give a try and see how it goes. Thanks Arthur Lindow.
