We’re excited to announce the release of SQL Enterprise Job Manager 2.4
SQL Enterprise Job Manager is an industry leading monitoring, scheduling and management solution for SQL Server agent jobs and Windows tasks for deployments in environments ranging from small businesses to large scale enterprises. SQL Enterprise Job Manager solves complex job dependency issues by analyzing job execution results and by identifying trends to tune performance. With SQL Enterprise Job Manager, users can configure and manage jobs that run over multiple instances, and customize jobs and their status collection to optimize balance between performance and data across SQL Server and Azure SQL databases using a single web-based user interface console that could be used remotely from anywhere. A flexible system of tailor-made alert rules that allows notifications to be generated across a broad range of significant, disruptive or undesired executions.
What’s New in SQL Enterprise Job Manager 2.4?
The SQL Enterprise Job Manager 2.4 release is focused on addressing the highest priority customer requests while providing significant usability and productivity improvements for DBAs, for both small and large customer installations.
Job Chain Branches
Enhanced and extended support for the job chain execution mechanism by adding the capability to branch out jobs within a chain allowing users to configure a job chain in a flexible manner that suits their environmental needs.
This addition provides a significant usability improvement for customers with complex configuration by cloning existing jobs and modifying configurations to create new or additional jobs with the ability to replace tokens with custom values.
Added the ability for SQL Enterprise Job Manager to capture events and changes regarding a sequence of activities that users perform by using the application. This will allow administrators to understand who performed an activity, what activity was performed, and how the system responded.
Addressed several areas causing poor performance in the Enterprise Job Manager web console with significant success. We expect these changes to improve the trial experience as well as benefiting established users.
End of Life and Extended Support for Windows Server 2008/2008 R2
Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 have both met their end-of-life and the extended support by Microsoft on July 9, 2019. End-of-life and extended support means the end of regular security updates for any product from Microsoft. Accordingly, SQL Enterprise Job Manager 2.4 no longer supports Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008/2008 R2. The 2008 products were outstanding for their time, however, we highly recommend upgrading to the most current versions for better performance, efficiency, and regular security updates for your testing and production environments.
