Knowing your Windows product key can be essential when you later need to restore your computer from a backup. Here is a simple one-liner to provide you with your product key information:
(Get-WmiObject -Class SoftwareLicensingService).OA3xOriginalProductKey
ReTweet this Tip!
C:\Windows\system32>(Get-WmiObject -Class SoftwareLicensingService).OA3xOriginalProductKey.OA3xOriginalProductKey was unexpected at this time.
(Get-WmiObject -Class win32_operatingsystem).SerialNumber does not return a license key. It returns a Serial Number... ;-) The serial number can not be used for product activation
Manohar's snipit works, but the topic power tip does not.
Try this command, it works fine for me:
(Get-WmiObject -Class win32_operatingsystem).SerialNumber
This command does not work for me for some reason. It shows empty field
Anyone knows why? System is fully registered
It's blank on my system and most of my work servers; I'm assuming this is for non volume licensed installations.
