We are pleased to announce the general availability of SQL Safe 7.4. Existing users may upgrade to this version through the Idera Customer Portal. New users may download the trial version from the Idera Website. This release includes the following features:
Availability Group Support
SQL Safe Backup 7.4 introduces support for SQL Server Availability Groups that were first introduced in SQL Server 2012. Support for availability groups includes:
-
SQL Safe will recognize which Availability Group replica is defined as the preferred replica in SQL Server and will take the backup from that replica.
-
If the preferred replica in the availability group goes offline, future backups will be taken from the new preferred replica.
- Ability to restore backups taken from multiple replicas in the same availability group database, including stitching together backups taken from different replicas within the availability group.
Support for SQL Server 2014
SQL Safe 7.4 includes support for all backup, restore and log shipping operations on SQL Server 2014.
Policy Support for SQL Server Express Edition
SQL Safe now supports backup, restore and log shipping polices for SQL Server Express Edition. In addition, the SQL Safe repository is now supported on SQL Server Express.
Centralized Multi-Instance Licensing
SQL Safe licensing can now be centrally managed from the SQL Safe console. In addition, one license can be issued to cover multiple servers instead of having to issue individual licenses for each system.
Current customer licenses are still supported by SQL Safe but in the event that a multi-instance license is registered with a SQL Safe Management Service, the user will be prompted to switch to centralized license
Miscellaneous
A number of bug fixes, small feature requests, and enhancements beyond those listed above have also been included in this release.
