On October 26, 2016, IDERA announced the latest release of the DB PowerStudio family, which includes DBArtisan, Rapid SQL, DB Change Manager, and DB Optimizer. These 4 products together provide a comprehensive database administration, management, and performance suite for environments with multiple platforms. Bert Scalzo posted a blog to share the news.
Key features of the DB PowerStudio 2016+ release include:
- Oracle-specific schema objects and enhancements

DB Change Manager and DB Optimizer:
- 64-bit executable in addition to 32-bit
- Platform and OS support updates

For DB Change Manager and DB Optimizer, the addition of a 64-bit version can provide improved performance for larger databases. The installer automatically detects whether the server OS is 32-bit or 64-bit, and installs the appropriate version of the tool. These two products have also received platform updates, to include support for Java 8, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2012, as well as connectivity with SQL Server 2016.
DBArtisan and Rapid SQL have received more extensive updates. The addition of eleven Oracle schema object types and partitioning options is bringing the tools up to date with the latest Oracle features. And several enhancements are available for use with any platform, including the Data tab in the Object Editor that provides immediate visibility to the rows of data referenced by that object (tables, views, etc.) stored in the database.
Additionally, when the system crashes or an issue occurs that needs support, the automated IDERA Error Report feature creates a zip file containing important details about the system installation, such as IDERA product information, hardware metrics such as CPU, RAM, disk size, and free space, and necessary database information, which can be sent to IDERA Support to assist with troubleshooting. This saves a lot of back-and-forth exchange by gathering all the relevant info up front, to simplify the technical support process.
